
Synopsis:
Fred M. Clark received his Ph.D. in Spanish and Portuguese from the
University of Florida in 1968. He has taught at the University of
North Carolina at Chapel Hill since 1967. His publications focus on
theater and include articles and the following books: Objective
Methods for Testing Authenticity and the Study of Ten Comedias Attributed
to Lope de Vega (1971), La Comedia I (edited with Alva
V. Ebersole, 1974), La Comedia II (edited with Alva V. Ebersole,
1975), Twentieth-Century Brazilian Theater: Essays (with
Ana Lúcia Gazolla de García, 1978), The Wedding
Dress (translation and study of Nelson Rodrigues' Vestido
de noiva, 1980), Impermanent Structures: Semiotic: Readings
of Nelson Rodrigues' "Vestido de noiva," "Album de
família," and "Anjo negro" (1991), and
Spectator, Character, Text: Semiotic Readings of Nelson Rodrigues'
Theater (1995). His current research involves twentieth-century
Brazilian women playwrights. He is editor of the journal Hispanófila. |
