
Synopsis:
Julia Cardona joined our Department in the Fall of 1995. She teaches
Spanish language courses and coordinates the graduate students who
teach Spanish 3 and 50. The present revision of Spanish 50 has been
under her supervision and she developed the web-based materials used
in this course with a Brandes Development Award and a Technology Award
from the Office of the Provost. Dr. Cardona Mack received an Ueltschi
Award to develop a service-learning component for Spanish 50, which
is currently offering Spanish language translations to community organizations
in our area. She taught a Freshman Seminar, The Spanish of the United
States, in the Honors Program, and is at present developing an intermediate
Spanish language course for Health Care as an interdisciplinary project
for distance learners supported by a FIPSE grant.
